Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To Work I Run

First time running to work this year. (It's about 8 miles, by the way. Today I did the middle five as a tempo run.)

New running vest + new showers at work + improved speed/endurance = ?

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

I had brought in a change of clothes a couple of days ago, and my food for the day yesterday (but then ended up going out for lunch with a friend anyway). Still need to make some adjustments to the list of what to leave behind at work the day before (ie., my datebook) and what to add to my clean-up pack that I'll leave here (shampoo), but overall, this was the smoothest run to work I've ever done.

Good thing, too, because I'm hoping to do it once a week once July comes.

Do you ever run for your commute?

  1. I'm so jealous!! I have to be at work so early, and we have no showers, so running to work is out of the question. My work is 9 miles away so in theory it would be nice to do.

  2. Whoa. Mind. Blown. I work 6 miles from home, but definitely no showers. I don't really have to bring anything, but I've never even considered running to work. How did you get home? Did you leave a car there before? Or public trans? Running to work. Wow.

  3. I take public trans so getting home is not an issue (except to remember to bring my pass with me since I don't have my usual bag). In the past (pre-new-building and therefore pre-showers) I used to leave baby wipes and a washcloth at work. So the big difference is having a better pack to run with - there's always *something* I have to carry that's more than my previous running packs could hold. Hence the makeshift pack out of a kids' backpack and safety pins I used to use.

  4. Actually, I enjoyed it so much I may do a double sometime this summer - that way I could also build back in one of the long run days that I had taken out recently.
